How Does The Ultimate Shred work?

The Ultimate Shred uses a combination of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), cardio, and resistance workouts to maximise calorie burn and body sculpting. The program runs for 12 weeks and involves 6 workouts per week, including:

  • HIIT Circuits + Technique
  • Cardio + Lower Body
  • Cardio + Core
  • Pure HIIT
  • Cardio + Upper Body
  • Yoga Recovery

Each month of the program starts with a fitness test video that helps you measure your progress over time. Each workout in the program (72 in total) is a new video which is extremely good for keeping you motivated and preventing you from getting bored.

No equipment is needed to perform each workout and trainer Leigh is great at keeping you on track to success. She carefully explains each new exercise when it is introduced and gradually builds the intensity of the workouts as the weeks progress.

How Does Insanity Work?

Similarly to The Ultimate Shred, Insanity applies the HIIT method to ensure maximum calorie burn in the allotted time. HIIT has been proven to be one of the most effective ways to burn calories and lose weight.

There are 4 workouts per week in the first month of the program, including:

  • Plyometrics
  • Upper body resistance
  • Pure Cardio
  • Cardio Abs
  • Recovery

In the second month, this increases to 5 workouts per week, and includes:

  • Max Interval Circuit
  • Max Interval Plyo
  • Max Cardio Conditioning
  • Max Recovery

The second month’s workouts are more demanding than the first which is great for pushing your body further and getting great results.

No equipment is needed, but a lot of the workouts have to be repeated which we found gets a bit boring, especially when you are hearing the trainer Shaun T say the same things over and over again.

Is The Ultimate Shred Better Than Insanity For Weight Loss?

The Ultimate Shred and Insanity will both provide excellent weight loss results if followed correctly. People who have completed the programs have reported losing a lot of weight very quickly and have also been extremely impressed with the improvement in their fitness and muscle tone.

We love both of these programs but found The Ultimate Shred to be better for weight loss because it’s more motivating than Insanity, has more workouts per week, and is less repetitive which helps you stick with it to the end.

Which Is The Best Value For Money?

The Ultimate Shred is priced at $135 but at the rime of writing we were able to buy it on sale for only $39. It is a one off fee for lifetimes access.

Insanity costs $119.85 and we recommend only purchasing it from the official Beachbody website.

Due to the lower cost and better results, The Ultimate Shred is better than Insanity in terms of value for money, but both programs offer a great workout at a reasonable cost.
